There’s just something exhilirating about standing in the middle of Times Square and soaking up all the energy from the crowds of people walking through. And the people watching in Times Square? Priceless. (Do you spot Mickey Mouse AND Iron Man in my picture? ) Although, I probably only feel this way because I’m not a native New Yorker. Most people I talk to that live in NY seem to only grumble about the terrible traffic around Times Square and how they do as much as possible to avoid this area! :) I guess I am a true tourist in the Big Apple after all - but I don’t mind because the utmost excitement I feel every time I visit the city still hasn’t wavered!
Hi guys! I’ve clearly been obsessed with coat weather lately and have been trying to snatch up the opportunity to wear as many of my coats as possible since the weather has been so unpredictable! However, since I was in Chicago last week, it was pretty much coat weather every day! I have to admit- I always ask for colder weather when it’s hot, yet when temps drop below the 50s – I yearn for some sunshine in those moments. (Although, my real enemy is the wind.) I guess deep down inside, I’m just a wimp when it comes to cold weather. Thinking about it now, I probably only like cold weather for its opportunity to wear cute coats and boots, hee hee. (I can see the hubby shaking his head right about now.)
Anyways, Chicago was a good time to test my cold weather endurance and surprisingly, the coats I brought to Chicago kept me quite cozy and warm when walking around the city. I’m also thankful for my fleece lined tights that I picked up at Forever21 a few years ago. If you don’t have a pair yet, do yourself a favor and go get ‘em! You will not be disappointed.
After wrapping up my meetings on Friday, I opted to stay in Chicago through the weekend to get in some relaxation and enjoy the beautiful city! The hubby flew in to join me which I was super excited about. I’ve been to Chicago a few times before, and I fall in love with the city more and more each time I visit. It has so much character, the architecture is just stunning and the people are so nice there! I always tell my hubby that if we didn’t live in LA, I would love to explore the possibility of living in Chicago. I suppose it’s a little too late for that now…. but a girl can dream! :)
One of my most favorite places to visit when I’m in Chicago is Millennium park – also home of the famous “bean” structure (actually called the Cloudgate). I don’t know if it’s because it’s big, cute and shiny, but I just l-o-v-e visiting the bean! There are always a lot of tourists there and it can get a little crowded/ claustrophobic at times, but I really don’t mind one bit. On top of it looking pretty, it’s actually a pretty amazing structure because you can see the Chicago skyline through it’s reflection. Because of the gathering of visitors from all over the world, Millennium Park always has so much energy and charisma. It’s quite charming I have to say.
Coincidentally, while we were there, a Style Chicago event was also taking place at the park. They debuted some collections from local Chicago designers and it was a fun little event that I was glad I stumbled upon. I actually scored some goodies at a booth from a local jewelry designer called K.Amato while perusing the collections. Her jewelry line is so cute! I’m looking forward to sharing some of the pieces I got in my upcoming posts.
Well guys, off I go -another flight, another city…but this time…NYC for some fun events! I feel like a bit of a jetsetter lately since I’ve been on two back to back trips in the last few weeks – it’s been quite an exciting ride for this little homebody. :) I’ll try to get a post in on Friday, but if not – I’ll talk to you guys soon!

Hello! How is everyone’s weekend going? This weekend started off on a very exciting and fun note since we had an early birthday celebration for my hubby yesterday. Happy birthday Hubby! Speaking of the hubby, I do have a funny story to share about today’s outfit.
If you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen the sneak peak of my outfit a few days ago. I had mentioned that my hubby called me a manta ray as soon as he saw me in this outfit. I can’t say it’s completely out of left field since the more I look at these pictures, I can see the uncanny resemblance (see here for a picture reference!). I mean, if you HAD to compare me to an animal, I GUESS it would be a manta ray (or some kind of sea creature). :)
However, I do pose one question. Why is it that guys always seem to associate colors and clothing to animals or objects?! It’s like they have some on and off switch in their brain that triggers it when they see an outfit. For a great example, I wore a yellow coat once and he took one look and said “BIG BIRD!”. I mean… Big Bird is cute and all, but let’s just say Big Bird was not my inspiration behind the yellow coat! You can bet I didn’t let him live that one down very easily, and I’m sure he’s super excited to be learning that I’m sharing the story with you all. ;)
Anyways, just a little food for thought about the interesting and intriguing ways guys and girls break down fashion differently (disclaimer: I’m sure not ALL guys do that :)). However, I guess I’m not completely innocent in the sense that when I see someone wearing red and green, I may or may not picture a Christmas tree - but hey, at least it’s because I’m slightly obsessed with the holidays and those colors make me very, very happy!
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend so far, and for some of you, the weekend continues tomorrow (not jealous at all)!

Just a quick hello and happy Wednesday! Wearing some bright pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month - pink seems to always brighten up my day and it’s a great mid-week pick me up color! These grey floral skinnies are definitely my new favorite pants. Get ready to see them on repeat in the upcoming months. I’m already thinking of layering oversized and chunky sweaters in darker hues over these fun pants for the holidays. :)
As you know, I love a good clean and crisp outfit, especially in black and white. One of my favorite ways to add some outstanding contrast to a great monochromatic outfit is with an unexpected pop of color, whether it be in the shoes, top, bag or a statement necklace. In today’s look, the star of my outfit is actually my statement necklace.
I’m so excited to be wearing this stunning piece - not only because it’s a showstopper but more importantly, it’s for an amazing cause. I’m very happy to introduce Benevolent Jewels to my readers and tell you guys a little bit about this great company. I wanted to take a brief moment to share how special this company is and why they touched my heart.
As an avid animal lover (especially cats!), I have always been interested in becoming more involved in the animal rescue community. After going through a rough patch last year when we lost our sweet cat Peanut, I hoped that starting my blog would bring me opportunities to meet others that shared similar passions. That’s why when I was introduced to Benevolent Jewels, my heart found a happy place. I love what their company stands for and their mission to seek awareness about the importance of helping others in need, especially our favorite four-legged creatures. Just to give a little highlight of their company mission:
“Benevolent jewels, based in Houston has collaborated with Barrio Dogs in oder to address the issue of animal overpopulation and improving conditions for homeless and unwanted animals in Houston through Unity for a Solution. Unity for a Solution is an effort raised by three established, independent Houston animal welfare organizations: Barrio Dogs, Corridor Rescue, and the Forgotten Dogs of Fifth Ward.”
Benevolent Jewels allows customers to purchase and wear stylish, affordable jewels in order to donate towards a cause. At the end of three months, 20% of their profits are donated to a philanthropic organization.
If you love animals and fashion as much as I do, then you will understand why this company has really made an impact on me. Animals are just like our friends and family, and as someone who has always grown up with animals, I just love where their mind is at. I think it’s only natural that when you combine two of the things I love so much in life together, I’m all in.
