Happy Friday everyone! As much as I love dressing up on the weekends, playing with fun pieces in my closet, experimenting with new trends, or just lounging in casual wear - the reality is, 40+ (plus plus plus) hours of my weeks are not spent in those types of clothes (sadface). I would give a lot to be able to dress without certain restrictions, but alas, not all of us have that wonderful luxury. I stand envious of those that are able to dress freely at work AND be appreciated for it. The hardest part of it all is that I work with several relatives including my Dad, so you can imagine the stares and jaw-drops if I came in with say, my favorite faux leather pants. You know what I’m sayin’? However, over the past several years, I’ve really learned that dressing for work doesn’t automatically mean that you can’t have fun with it.
Since I started this blog, I’ve always wanted to make sure that it exhibited my true personal style. If my style is able to resonate with and possibly offer some inspiration to at least one person out there, then I’ll take it. Not to say that I haven’t been displaying my true style, but lately, while doing some reflecting on the blog, I’ve been feeling a little disappointed in myself in the sense that I’ve been so terribly bad at posting my work outfits. The main reason why is because by the time I get home from work, it’s usually dark and it would be silly to take my pictures in the dark (ok, more so I haven’t figured out how to work my camera and lighting in the dark yet). And now that Fall is here, I can throw taking pictures at 7PM out the window. Don’t get me wrong - I’ve been having so much fun being able to capture my weekend outfits but something just seems off. With that said, I’ve decided to start an “Off To Work” post series on my blog so I can give my work wardrobe a little more attention! :) I won’t be posting a work outfit every time, but I will definitely make an effort to post them more often going forward.
Anyhow, dressing for work can be pretty intimidating, especially if you’re just entering the ‘real’ world. Hopefully, I can offer some comfort to those who dread getting dressed for work. I used to feel uneasy about it as well, but after learning to mix and match with a few simple items in my closet, I’ve realized that it doesn’t have to be difficult or boring!
Today’s outfit is just a simple but fun and time-crunch friendly pairing with a comfy fitted top and black skirt. I glammed it up a tad with a floral statement necklace. If your dress code at work allows for some leniency, sometimes I like to stray away from the typical black pencil skirt and opt for a more fun but still conservative option. However, a black pencil skirt is still absolutely on the top of my list for wardrobe staples! :)
Happy weekend my friends!

Well guys, I just couldn’t resist any longer. The scarf, boots and jacket came out this past weekend for a little outing! I had been checking the weather daily to see if it might be a LITTLE cooler in LA, but nope, 80s across the board. Therefore, I did what any normal insistent fashion lover would do – I sucked it up and wore my outfit anyway.
When my hubby took a look at me, the first thing he said was “You’re dressed for the wrong season”. Pshhh. Well tooo bad buddy, it’s happening. I do confess I was a little apprehensive that regret would set in once I walked out the door (shhh, don’t tell the hubby), but the weather gods were on my side that day as it got quite breezy early on in the evening. Naturally, I thought I was pretty clever in that moment and even got a little high five from my husband. (Thank you weather gods!) :)
Anyway, I can’t even begin to describe how much I love the colors that are commonly associated with Fall/Winter months and most importantly, the holidays that occur during this season. The holidays make me so feel so warm and fuzzy inside. I seriously get so excited just thinking about them! In terms of my wardrobe, as soon as September rolls around, I just have an itch to stock up on pieces in my personal favorite Fall color: tan. I’ve already bookmarked/collaged more than a few pages worth of outfit inspirations revolved around this color and all the shades in between, hah! Camel, brown, nude, beige, cream…you name it. I’ll try to share some of my collages with you guys soon!
While trying to find something to pair with my tan leather jacket this past weekend (because there was no doubt I was bringing the jacket out), I happened to skim past this blue dress in my closet. I purchased this sweet bow dress last season and actually envisioned myself wearing it in a more formal setting. I hadn’t really thought of it as an option for an easy breezy Sunday running errands, but I was glad that I reached for it. (On a side note - through blogging, I’ve realized my slight obsession for bows as evidenced here, here, and here. Can’t seem to get away from those suckers!)
I almost forgot how well tan and navy go together, like two peas in a pod. I couldn’t wait to pair it with my leopard and navy scarf, which all came together to create a favorite duo-chromatic color scheme. Instead of opting for heels since I was going for a more casual look, I slipped on these perfect-for-Fall boots to complete the outfit and was on my way.
I already know I’ll be wearing this outfit again when the weather cools down even more, except this time with my fleece lined tights (best invention ever) and an oversized coat (in tan, of course!).

A little exhausted from a fun and eventful weekend, so keeping it short and sweet today. Nothing makes me feel more refined and polished than a clean and crisp black and white outfit. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of the color combination (and I hope you guys won’t get sick of me wearing it!). This is going to be a busy but hopefully very productive week! Typically when my weekdays are insanely busy, it makes the much needed relaxation over the weekends THAT much better. Happy Monday!

You’ll have to pardon me for my summer-ish look on today’s post. Believe me - my boots, sweaters and coats are all lined up and ready to come out and play, but the weather in LA seems to have different plans. The heat wave is not wavering, and I have a feeling it will be here for a while.
I talk as if this is a novelty in Southern California, but I just don’t remember the hot weather lasting THIS long in the past (I probably say that every year). I’m not really complaining per say, but do consider me officially envious of all of you that are actually experiencing the onset of Fall and bringing out your beautiful boots and coats! For now, I will have to live vicariously through you other fashionistas. Plus, I recently invested in a pair of over-the-knee high boots which I’m very excited to wear - just not in this heat. That would just be kind of silly. Then again, sometimes fashion can precipitate silly things, if it makes you happy, of course. :) Until it cools down just a tad, I guess my Fall wardrobe will be waiting patiently indoors….

Happy shopping and more importantly, HAPPY FRIDAY!
Lately, I’ve been extremely attracted to asymmetrical hemlines, leather detailing, fun prints and versatile pieces. This new favorite dress fits the criteria and more but in all honesty, it really had me at the price tag. $60?! (Hello, happy bank account!) ASOS never fails me when it comes to more than reasonable prices for high fashion and on trend looks.
It’s no breaking news that I’m a big fan of accessories and trinkets that are customized or monogrammed. When Mary Ann from the cutest Etsy store MimicDesign sent over this beautiful Clare Vivier inspired fold over clutch with my new (married!) initials, I was so touched and excited. In fact, it is the first item in my closet that will have my new initials as a Mrs.! I have no doubt that this special clutch will be getting a lot more attention from me in the future. Not to mention, the pop of red in the zipper detail adds some unexpected edge which I love.
It also comes with a detachable shoulder strap to easily transform into a convenient crossbody bag, yes and yes!
